About PoofMail

PoofMail is a free service for creating disposable email addresses. Create an inbox, use it on a website that accepts temporary email, and let it expire without sharing your personal or work email.

Why use disposable email?

Many websites ask for an email address before you can download a file, read an article, try a product, or leave a comment. Sharing your main address each time can mean more marketing messages and more places that hold your contact details. A disposable address lasts long enough to receive a confirmation link or one-time code, then can be discarded.

How PoofMail works

Opening the site creates a random address on our domain and opens its inbox. There is no account to register or password to remember. Incoming messages appear automatically. Choose New address when you need a different inbox. Your active inbox session is remembered in this browser until it expires or you delete it.

When to use a permanent address instead

Disposable addresses are for short-lived, low-stakes tasks: a permitted product trial, a newsletter preview, a forum you only need once, or a download. Do not use one for banking, government services, medical records, work, or an account you intend to keep. Expired messages cannot be recovered.

PoofMail uses a browser session token to access an inbox; knowing its address alone does not grant access. Anyone with access to your browser session or token may read the inbox. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted or intended for confidential information.

Who runs PoofMail?

PoofMail is independently operated. Messages are received directly by our own server at poofmail.net rather than forwarded through a third-party disposable email service. The server only receives mail; it does not send outgoing messages.
