Temporary Email and Website Rules

Whether you can use disposable email depends on the website and the task. This guide offers general context, not legal advice about a specific situation. Check the website's own terms and applicable requirements when in doubt.

Ordinary permitted use

A website may accept temporary email for a download, a preview, or another brief interaction. If the rules permit it and you do not need continued access, a disposable address can separate the task from your personal inbox.

When it conflicts with the rules

Some services explicitly require a permanent contact address. Using temporary email despite that requirement may put the account at risk of restriction or suspension.

Creating multiple accounts to claim a referral reward, new-user discount, trial, or prize more than once can violate program rules regardless of which email provider you choose. A fresh inbox is not permission to bypass one-person or one-account limits.

Fraud, impersonation, and other prohibited activities do not become acceptable because a disposable address is involved.

Terms and legal requirements are different

A website's contract or usage policy and the law are separate considerations. The consequences of a particular action depend on the circumstances and applicable jurisdiction. Do not treat acceptance of a registration form as proof that the use is permitted or lawful.

Before you register

Read the site's requirements, use a permanent address when requested, and avoid using temporary email to evade account or benefit limits. Where the rules are unclear and the account matters, ask the provider or choose a lasting contact address. Temporary email is a tool for separating appropriate short-term tasks, not an exception to the rules governing them.
